Who does not know about Prambanan Temple? Its elegance and beauty attract many people to see it closer. Even, this prehistoric temple, built by Syailendra Dynasty, includes to World Heritage List Number 642.

Those who ever of often visit Prambanan temple do not only admire its art value but can also find another beauty. Shyly hide among the temple stones. A bird or some make a small group of beautiful feather birds. They are Java Finches (Padda orizvora—VU).

They fly around from one gem to another, playing with past history that neatly kept among the temple stones carving. Once at a time they will stop and take a rest at the edge of the temple or move stealthily into the stones cracks. There, they build their nests. Moreover, the highest population rate of Java Finch is in Prambanan Temple area.

But a new issue arouse when Yogyakarta's Archaeological Service as the manager through its temple restoration program, cleaned the moss, grass, and all nests materials on the stones cracks. They considered that the moss, grass, those materials can accelerate the stones corrosion process. The clean up began on 2003 and is executed periodically up to now.

A dilemmatic problem which has to be faced when the Java Finch conservation movement keep incited because of the decreasing population caused by hunting and on the other side, their remained habitat had to disappear since the culture preserve is an important thing as well. Moreover, the 27th May earthquake made its condition worse and almost smashed the over centuries building. The importance of Java Finch conservation gets aside remembering the fact that they also loosen their nests.

Considering this condition, Kutilang Indonesia Foundation initiated a management model development of the local conservation area. The management form is constructed together with the related side, including the hunters on the Prambanan temple area, so that Java Finch management continuity will be guaranteed for a long time.

With this approach, it is hoped that the society can directly take part on the biological diversity conservation by protecting areas which have important value to the biological diversity around their surroundings. Besides, they are also encouraged to make practical forms of area management, for instance, by making artificial nests and planting needed vegetation.
